The Level 2 Sports Trainer accreditation (also known as an Orange Shirt Trainer) is the highest accreditation allowed to perform role of First Responder during a match.
All Level 2 Sports Trainers must be at least 18 years of age.
Courses
The NRL Level 2 Sports Trainer course is targeted primarily towards trainers working under the Performance On-Field Policy.
The aim of the Level 2 Sports Trainer program is to further develop the basic knowledge and skills of a Level 1 Sports Trainer that in turn, will improve their ability to contribute to safer sporting events and organisations. It is anticipated that the experience gained since completion of the Level 1 course, will provide participants with sufficient insight to assimilate this higher level of knowledge into their role as a Sports Trainer.
This course is delivered using a blended learning combining online learning with face to face theoretical and practical tasks. Students are required to participate in all course elements, providing them with an opportunity to practice and refine their skills prior to assessment.
Available courses can be found here.
Reaccreditation
The NRL Re-Accreditation for Level 2 Sports Trainers requires that sports trainers participate in an update of their Provide First Aid certification providing 3 years of currency.
All candidates must hold a current NRL Level 2 Sports Trainer Qualification that has been expired for no longer than 12 months.
Available Reaccreditation courses can be found here.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Candidates who already hold a current first and CPR certification can apply for recognition of prior learning. Applicants will need to provide evidence of existing current qualifications that can be used to substitute some course modules.
